Project Charter[Volunteer Tracking]

Description

  • Work with Habitat for Humanity ReStore in White County, AR to find the most cost effective solution to help them with volunteer tracking, which is currently not consistent.
  • This may help with cost effectiveness of Habitat for Humanity's programs (ReStore and house building), or at least improve organization and efficiency.

Objectives

  • Find most cost-effective solution for volunteer tracking for Habitat for Humanity
  • Implement the use of chosen solution
  • Through this, improve organization of HFH, White county affiliate, volunteer program in a cost effective way.

  • Some system for tracking volunteers which may involve
    • A software program already designed for this purpose
    • A software program modified to provide this service
    • Some other system as determined by the team members to have the best cost

Accomplished This Period:
  • Contacted Affiliate Administrator about current tracking system, found out they just use a form people fill out currently for builds
  • Contacted Jordan about the app to ask him to try it out and see if it works for him.
  • Contacted Affiliate Administrator again to find out whether this tracking system should encompass builds as well or if they're not interested in changing that part at this time.

Planned But Not Accomplished This Period:
  • Still haven't heard back from Jordan as to whether the app will work or not
  • Hear more from the Affiliate Administrator about whether they're interested in a new volunteer tracking system for the builds as well.
Objectives To Next Reporting Period:
  • Hopefully hear from Jordan again to find out if this works.
  • Work on Report- organize by options of paper, simple computer program, and android app
  • Follow up with affiliate to see if my findings can be useful for tracking volunteers at builds as well and to find out what kinds of information they collect so that the system is compatible with the current system.
  • Organize findings and finish report.

  • Grant writing took up most of my time this reporting period
  • If the solution I'm currently pushing forward with doesn't work, it will be back to square one.

  • Heard back from Jordan, found out he has an android
  • Received contact information for someone who knows about the current system for tracking volunteers at the builds.

  • I don't know if there are legal ramifications of a business using an android app or other software for their business because there are rules on which software businesses can use.
  • Sometimes it takes people a while to respond to emails.

  • Without direction from those using the product on what they are looking for, we cannot go much further without risking having to redo our work if it doesn’t match our currently unknown specifications.
